A pigeon has allegedly been trapped inside the Morrisons store at Trident Point, Pinner Road, for more than 15 days, with local animal welfare campaigners and residents calling for urgent action.
The issue was first raised in a post by Harrow Online group member Sheila Shah. Following this, a local rescuer named Olivia visited the store to investigate. She located the pigeon inside, lying prostrate above the customer service area, and took a photo as proof to send to wildlife organisations.
“I took a photo to send to rescue groups, as they usually need evidence before sending help,” Olivia told Harrow Online.
She said she spoke with a senior member of staff who reportedly explained that pest control had been ed but never turned up.
Olivia later ed rescue organisations including London Wildlife Protection, Greenwich Wildlife Network and Pumpkin’s Wildlife Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre, but said the situation changed when she followed up with the store.
“I was told they couldn’t give me any information. The tone was completely different. I was accused of being the same person who had been feeding the bird and causing issues, but I’d only just found out about it the day before.”
Another campaigner told Harrow Online that their friend and her father had been feeding the pigeon in-store to keep it alive. When management found out, they allegedly removed the food and water, banned photography and asked them to leave the premises. The bird has reportedly gone without food or water for four days.
A petition started by Anj B on Change.org urging Morrisons to take immediate action. The petition reads:
“It is distressing to watch a poor pigeon being trapped and getting starved. Every day, at the Morrisons in Harrow’s Trident Point branch, this pigeon is fighting for survival… The sight is heartbreaking, and I can no longer stand by without taking action.”
“Pigeons, like all living creatures, deserve comionate treatment and respect. This matter is not just about one bird; it is about the moral obligation we as humans have to prevent suffering whenever possible.”
“There are simple and effective solutions to resolve this situation humanely. Morrisons could employ trained wildlife professionals to safely capture and release the pigeon… A swift response from Morrisons will demonstrate their commitment to ethical and socially responsible practices that align with the values of their community.”

One Harrow Online member also commented, “As a business in the Harrow community, Morrisons should at least respect the sentiments of residents and collaborate instead of being rude and inhumane. With all the gloominess of wars, a little hope of freeing a vulnerable being would bring some happiness to the community.”
Morrisons has been ed for comment.
