Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Saturday the temporary suspension of tram services between Dubai Marina Station (No. 5) and Palm Jumeirah Station (No. 9), following a fire in a nearby high-rise building on Friday night.

Shuttle bus service services

The RTA stated that the suspension is a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of tram engers and operational staff, while also ing ongoing firefighting and recovery efforts in the affected area. To maintain service continuity, the authority has activated a replacement shuttle bus service between the impacted stations. Tram services across the rest of the network remain fully operational.

Safety inspections before full resumption

Tram operations between the impacted stations will resume only after thorough safety checks are completed.

"The safety of our engers and operations is our top priority. We are working closely with emergency services and relevant authorities to monitor the situation and resume full services as soon as it is deemed safe," the RTA said in a statement.

"We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time."

Fire contained, mass evacuation

The fire, which broke out in a 67-storey residential tower in Dubai Marina, was brought under control within six hours by Dubai Civil Defence teams. All 3,820 residents were safely evacuated with no injuries reported.

The Dubai Media Office (DMO) provided real-time updates via X (formerly Twitter), confirming the coordinated emergency response, including medical and mental health at the scene, and ongoing efforts to fully contain the blaze.

Authorities continue to assess the situation and will issue further updates as needed.
