The Chicago Sky suffered an 85-66 loss to the New York Liberty on Tuesday night, dropping their record to 2-6 on the season. With the victory, New York improved its WNBA-best record to 9-0, keeping pace with the Minnesota Lynx as the league's only two undefeated teams in 2025.

While this was another blowout loss for Chicago, there were some areas of improvement. One notable development was the performance of second-year forward Angel Reese.

After scoring just four points in Saturday's loss to the Indiana Fever, Reese notched a double-double against New York with 17 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.

For Reese, who entered the game averaging 9.1 points and 12.3 rebounds, this was her fourth double-double of the season.

As has become standard for the Sky after every contest, the team named a Player of the Game despite the blowout loss. For Tuesday's game against New York, the Sky announced this honor had been awarded to Reese.

"double-double from A5 in the BIG 🍎 tonight," the team wrote.

Reese set the WNBA's all-time record for consecutive double-doubles last season when she tallied 15 straight as a rookie. She also led the league in rebounds per game, and momentarily broke the single-season total rebounding record before an injury ended her season and allowed Las Vegas Aces star A'ja Wilson to claim that title.

Still the WNBA's leader in rebounds per game, Reese entered Tuesday atop that list, with Liberty center Jonquel Jones sitting in second. Jones did not play against Chicago due to a sprained ankle.

The Sky will now regroup before returning to action on Friday against the Atlanta Dream.
