As a retired command chief master sergeant of the Maine Air National Guard, I understand firsthand the critical role infrastructure plays in readiness and national security. That’s why I want to thank Sen. Susan Collins for her steadfast leadership in securing $50 million for a new hangar at the 101st Air Refueling Wing in Bangor.
This investment is more than just brick and mortar. It’s a commitment to the brave men and women who serve, ensuring they have the tools and facilities needed to succeed in their mission. I deployed to Iraq and the Horn of Africa during my nearly 30-year military career, and I know how essential modern, reliable infrastructure is to ing operations at home and abroad.
Collins has always been a strong advocate for Maine’s service , and this latest effort underscores her dedication. The new hangar will not only strengthen our state’s strategic capabilities but also good-paying jobs and economic development in the region.
Importantly, this investment helps ensure the proud tradition of the “Maineiacs” continues for decades to come. With the new hangar, the 101st will remain one of the finest flying, fighting forces in the free world, ready to serve at a moment’s notice.
I deeply appreciate leaders who prioritize our military and veterans. Thank you, Sen. Collins, for your commitment to those who serve and to the future of our national defense.
