LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - The Red Raiders fell 2-1 in the first game of the Women’s College World Series Championship versus Texas on Wednesday night at Devon Park in Oklahoma City.
Texas Tech would find the bases quickly in the first inning, ultimately loading up the bases but the Longhorns hit a double play, and another out to keep things scoreless in the first inning.





Things would stay scoreless until the 5th inning, Logan Halleman would get thrown out at second caught stealing, but Gerry Glasco challenged it for obstruction and the call was reversed. Mihyia Davis would come up and do her job with the fly out to centerfield that drops and Halleman scores in the first run of the game, Texas Tech with the 1-0 lead.

Texas gets the tying run on the plates with two outs remaining in the bottom of the 6th, the Red Raiders would challenge a stolen base at second for their second challenge but the call stood with the Longhorns on second base with two outs in the bottom of the 6th inning. Then Texas would really start to threaten with runners on second and third, and Reese Atwood would hit it right through the bases to bring in two Longhorn runners to take the 2-1 lead.
Alana Johnson would slap a ground ball into the Longhorns infielders’ glove which would plate the tying run in the 7th but the Longhorns would take the Game 1 victory 2-1 over Texas Tech. Game 2 will be Thursday at 7 p.m.
