If you’re truly looking for an escape, Bald Head Island is the place to go. Located on an island only accessible by boat or ferry, the island doesn’t allow cars (with exceptions for public safety, service and construction vehicles), so travel occurs by golf cart or bicycle, giving visitors the opportunity to slow down and take in the salt marshes, maritime forest, and of course, beaches.
