The transfer window is shut for now, but it'll be back in less than a week and when it re-opens Liverpool can confirm a British-record move for Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz after an agreement was finally reached.

A package worth £116m has been enough to tempt the German side with the player's medical and contract not expected to be an issue as the club's recruitment continues. Going the other way could be Darwin Nunez with several clubs keen, but his price tag could prove the biggest stumbling block.

Manchester United ramping up their efforts as Arsenal wait in the wings, but their priority is understood to be Benjamin Sesko. The Swede has come out and spoken amid all the speculation with a social media post where he claimed: "I will speak when the time is right.”

Bournemouth are not interested in selling Justin Kluivert as Bayer Leverkusen apparently try to land the Dutch forward.

The Bundesliga club are keen to start spending the money they’re getting for Florian Wirtz from Liverpool. New boss Erik ten Hag is interested in Kluivert having watched him up close while he was manager of Manchester United.

Manchester United haeve reportedly entered the race for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Hugo Ekitike. The Frenchman has already found interest from Liverpool and Chelsea but United are now said to have enquired over a deal, per Sky Sports.

Coutinho edges towards move

Aston Villa star Philippe Coutinho believes that a decision on his future is iminent.

Coutinho is currently on loan at Vasco de Gama in Brazil, having ed them in the summer transfer window. Talks over a permanent deal have been ongoing and Coutinho believes that those negotiations are close to a conclusion.

“People are talking, this week I think it’s positive to talk about and decide everything,” he told Premiere after Vasco’s win over Sao Paulo on Thursday.

Man Utd warned over sale policy

Shaun Wright-Phillips has warned that Man United risk alienating their young talents if they opt for a sell-to-buy strategy this summer.

The ex-Manchester City midfielder highlighted the predicament of Alejandro Garnacho, who seems to have fallen out of favour with Ruben Amorim. He is also expressed concern over 20-year-old Kobbie Mainoo's situation.

"I don't think they should be getting rid of key players like that," Wright-Phillips told Betway. "Because the same thing in many ways has happened to Kobbie Mainoo without even saying anything. He's just not been playing either and he was that golden child, as well, about a year ago.

"It's either that or they're trying to raise money from players they've not had to pay for. Because some of their selling, I'm not really understanding."

Wirtz's medical

Wirtz has now be given the green light to travel to Merseyside to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of a long-term contract.

The transfer window is now closed again until next week but deals can still be agreed and medicals done. The deal will be made official next week.

Arsenal miss out on Sane - who will earn OVER £400k per week

Arsenal ultimately missed out on Leroy Sane who has signed for Galatasaray - where pay packet will exceed that of every Premier League player besides Erling Haaland.

The winger will earn £10.23m per season after tax, as revealed by the Turkish giants in an extraordinary statement. Football finance expert Stefan Borson claims this would work out as £21.3m gross per annum in the UK - or £410,000 per week.

Sane has left Bayern Munich on a free after his contract expired.

Motherwell in Ola-Adebomi hunt

Motherwell are among a number of clubs keen on g Ademola Ola-Adebomi this summer.

The Crystal Palace forward, 21, is poised to leave Selhurst Park on a permanent basis after spells on loan with Burton Albion and Beveren in Belgium.

Mirror Football understands Motherwell like the Eagles academy graduate, who is in the final year of his contract.

Some more on Wirtz's record deal

Wirtz wanted only to move to Merseyside after turning down advances from Manchester City and Bayern Munich which surprised many. Liverpool were never prepared to match the £127m (€150m) Leverkusen were keen to get.

But a compromise has been worked out between Reds sporting director Richard Hughes and his counterpart at Leverkusen, Simon Rolfes. There has been consistent dialogue between the two clubs since last week when the Reds tabled an offer worth around £114m.

The finer details of that include what Wirtz and Liverpool must achieve during the course of his contract at Liverpool to trigger the payments over £100m were finalised late on Thursday night. The £100m will be guaranteed but, like any modern deal, will be paid in instalments over a number of years while the add-ons will then be paid as and when they are triggered.

Hobbs set for Saudi talks

Matt Hobbs, the former Wolves sporting director, is being eyed up for a role in Saudi Arabia.

Hobbs, 45, spent a decade at Molineux in a variety of roles before becoming sporting director in November 2022. It was confirmed he was leaving his role by mutual consent earlier this month.

Mirror Football understands that ambitious clubs in the Saudi Pro League are set to try and entice him into heading overseas for his next role with talks scheduled.

There is also Premier League interest in Hobbs, who presided over deals for Matheus Cunha and Joao Gomes during his time as sporting director.

Man Utd's next moves after Cunha deal

Man Utd confirmed the g of Matheus Cunha from Wolves on Wednesday but that is set to just be the beginning of their transfer business. The Red Devils are planning to strengthen across the board ahead of Ruben Amorim's first pre-season in charge of the club.

Already United have seen a bid for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo rejected - he wants to move to Old Trafford and negotiations continue. Replenishing of frontline options may not end there. There remains a desire to sign a striker.

Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen are among the options being considered. The latter is currently involved in a dispute with his current side Sporting over the price he will be allowed to depart for.

The club also want to see additions in midfield and in goal. There is a desire to bring in a goalkeeper who can challenge Andre Onana, while back-up option Altay Bayinidir has an uncertain future.

'Man Utd should've picked Osimhen over Gyokeres'

Man United should sign Victor Osimhen this summer instead of Viktor Gyokeres, according to Rio Ferdinand.

He believes the Nigerian striker is a better fit for his former club. The Red Devils struggled for firepower this season, with Rasmus Hojlund finding the net just four times in the Premier League.

He told Mirror Football: "I think Gyokeres, everyone's talking about him. Again, I think if I'm looking at the market now and I had to pick him or Osimhen, I'd probably pick Osimhen because of that experience."

AC Milan eye Arsenal duo

AC Milan are lining up a double move for Arsenal duo Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior. The Serie A side sacked Sérgio Conceição earlier this summer after a miserable season that saw them finish eighth in the Italian top-flight.

Former Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri has taken charge and is being tasked with taking the team back to the top of Italian football. According to Gazzetta dello Sports, Milan are looking at Zinchenko and Kiwior to deal with those defensive issues. Milan are said to have sent an emissary to hold talks with Gunners chiefs on Tuesday.

Dortmund not eyeing Sancho return

Borussia Dortmund chief Sebastian Kehl has explained the club are not prioritising a third move for Jadon Sancho, England international Sancho left the German club for United in 2021 and returned on loan to help them reach the Champions League final in 2024.

“Of course, with Jadon is always there, in some way, because we have a very long history,” Kehl said as Dortmund prepare to begin their Club World Cup campaign. The deadline for ing players in time for the competition's group stage has already ed, and Sancho is still at Old Trafford.

Robertson unsure on Reds future

Andy Robertson has been in conversation with Liverpool over a contract extension but is unsure what lies ahead. The Scotland international has been the Reds' first-choice left-back for a number of years, but that could change with the anticipated arrival of Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth.

“We have discussed [my future], of course we have," Robertson told Sky Sports News at his AR26 Charity day. "We’ve had good discussions, me and the club, but what the future holds, I’m not sure."
